One Man's Heaven is Another Man's Hell

I love this cartoonist.

~~~~~~~~~
I twist my hair. Really often and really energetically.
When I'm thinking, when I'm reading, when I'm talking, when I'm writing, when I'm zoning.
Half the time my hair is in a knot, twisted into a hair clip and chunks pulled out and pinned up on the opposite side. It's crazy, but I've done it since the third grade.
Most bad habits get dropped way before middle school. How many adults do you know that still bite their fingernails? Or use a pacifier?
But twisting is still going on here on my head.
~~~~~~~

I meant to talk about the idea behind the cartoon.

My heaven is digging at a flea market, going slowly through a thrift store, scoring a find at a consignment store, reading a book I cannot put down, listening to the radio (sometimes), weeding (weird), dusting (told ya), and obsessing.

There are more, but they don't sound interesting. Today anyway.

What are the things that are heavenly to you?

Heavenly - a hot shower on a cold day, a cold(ish) shower on a hot day, reading a book that's so good I don't want to stop to eat, my man's hugs.

My heaven is much of what you said-

"My heaven is digging at a flea market, going slowly through a thrift store, scoring a find at a consignment store, reading a book I cannot put down, listening to the radio (sometimes), weeding (weird), dusting (told ya), and obsessing".

Well, except for the flea market, thrift thingy, consignment, reading a book and listening to the radio...

ok, but when I had a yard, I did lots of weeding, and I do the dusting around here, and I obsess about too much.

Actually, I've learned something in life about a woman who twirls her hair, but I'm not sharing it here...

A cold shower whilst experiencing a blue-vein throbber.

i've been a serial hair-twister my whole life. the worst torture on the planet is when i'm off-the-chain tired and my hair happens to be in a formal updo. it's like my own personal hell, really.

flea markets. I don't know why. I am lucky enough to live in a pretty old town, still farmville, too, so the things that make it to our monthly flea market at the towns cow barn (that's what it's called, actually) are incredible. I get there at opening at 6 am and go alone...it's best for everyone that way.

Passing a hard class and doing better than I expected, hearing my kitties' purring when I give them love and seeing that loving cat-wink expression when I scratch them JUST right, a successful social event with family & friends, getting all kinds of cool stuff for under $40 at a thrift store, hearing the Big B's laugh when it's startled out of him, reading a good book that makes me laugh out loud, or cry, or get enthusiastic about the characters.

And, when I do it (which is rare), ironing is very satisfying. You get to see immediate results!

When my cat wants some lovin' -- except at 3am. Finding great deals on new, used, vintage or antique anything. Sitting on the pontoon in the middle of the lake reading the Sunday paper. Designing an ad/flyer/brochure, etc. Weeding -- if you pull one you just can't stop, right?

Having my best friend over and just sitting around jawing about the world's troubles and life in general. :-)

J.J. - hug on that man

Blasé - weeding and dusting are so similar to me.

Heff - your showers must be longer than five minutes I'm guessing.

Lucky Gun - the same thing with a pony when you're out right? I'm sitting here right now with a hot mess on my head.

Empress - flea markets! I swoon.

TK - the book thing happens all the time for you! [smooches]

Deb - we had the best time right?
