Madhouse

It's a madhouse around here. Literally a madhouse.

Meaning, I am either insane, or we are putting on an addition.

I knew it would be hard. After all, I've been through a few bouts of remodeling in my life. I even built a house once.

But this one is really hard. Mostly because I'm unemployed (looking for work like a mo-fo I might add; finally, my kids might add) and mostly because, right now, the dudes are working in the office and working in the room-to-be-renamed.

I don't like it when things are out of place and the whole house is upended.

So, I'm pulling up my big-girl panties (or my granny-panties I guess I should call them) to get on with it.

Concentrate on what it is, not what you want it to be. Be in the moment. What the hell does that really mean? I think it means that instead of moaning and moping about because things aren't the way I want them, I need to celebrate the process (bop!) and maybe learn a thing or four.

So, with panties firmly in place, I approach the continuation of this process with open-ended curiousity and never-ending joy.

Got it? Yes I do!

What are you approaching?

It's tough, though. They say if you can live through remodeling, you can do anything.

I"ve just come off a month long visit from my "incredibly high-maintenance" (as my husband calls them) in-laws. I learned to breathe deep, celebrate the journey and after about 2 weeks, I learned to stop crying and just deal with it. Even though it doesn't sound like fun, it really makes things go so much better.

I think you are doing just fine. Sometimes a little venting is good. You get it out of your system and then you can "be in the moment". I can't wait to see your den when it's finished. xo

You will love it when it's done. Yes you will. So don't get your panties in a bunch. :-)

My sister was told her remodel would be done in 8 months. It took 1 1/2 years. But she loves it...and you will too.

I would be so happy to be able to do a remodel that I'd live through anything.

And I'm not lying.

Can't wait to see how it goes along the way!

Oh, man, I can sooo relate. I'm going bonkers with our renos. And I can imagine being home every day would make it even worse - at least I can escape to the office Mon - Fri!

Remodeled out master bath a couple of years ago, right before Christmas. What were we thinking???

No remodel projects planned for right now.

Starting the "college process" for son2 and am dreading it like the plague. son1 was a self starter and I wasn't much involved... son2, another story.

I don't envy you. I freak out when my surroundings are chaotic. My brother-in-law has decided to remodel his kitchen and bathroom. The house is a mess! And my poor, nesting 8 month pregnant sister-in-law is FREAKING out!

I'm approaching 53. Nuff said.

I am proud of you for choosing to enjoy the process. How's that working out for ya? :-)
