What's on My Samsung?

Well hello there.

You've missed me.

Oh come on - I know it! I have a face just made for missing.

Let me have my dreamy thoughts. It could happen!

What a summer it has been yes? Gorgeous around these parts. Lovely, balmy, calm, and just a tad - umm - just a tad . . . you know what? I'm not going to finish that thought.

Here's a few shots of some of what I've been doing.
Camping.
George driving.
I thought my dad needed to know about this. Since he's from New Ulm Minnesota and all.
This made me giggle because I'm a 12 year-old boy. Yup.
New addition to the Chez Emerson zoo. This is Oliver.
I managed to re-bloom an orchid! I was disproportionately excited.
Got new patio furniture. Made Pup move it from one spot to the next. He's still speaking to me.
Another shot of the crazy-eyed Oliver. He's kinda cute.
I have become one of those people that takes too many photos of her pets. Soon you will find kitty litter in my hair and I will tenderly pick fur off of my leggings. That I wear as pants. People will whisper, "She used to be so fun! She used to be so stylish!" Gah

What have you been doing this summer?

What's on My Samsung?

I'm annoyed.

I cannot understand why so much energy from everywhere is being focused on one murder trial. I don't understand why so many are giving this horrible situation even one minute of their precious time or why they are drawing more attention to it.

From California to New York there are trials going on. For horrendous crimes. Murders, rapes, arson, robberies. Things that some of us can't even imagine because they are so horrific.

I'll make the one change that I'm in control of. Me. Sometimes I'm not even in control of her! Meaning me. Or whatever the hell I'm trying to say. You know, be the change you want to see and all that crap.

Ha! The most repeated and quoted things are that way for a reason.

So . . .

What's on My Samsung

It just doesn't have the same ring does it?

I will never love it like I loved my Blackberry. It doesn't fit in my handbag phone slots. It gets all schmeary after I'm done yapping on it. It doesn't let me know when I have emails all the time. Ya. And I have emails from my new boss I need to get. Ya. Piece of . . .

:)

Hello emoticon - you old resource you.

The week though is something!

Ruby Tuesday

I confess lots of stuff here on The Fashion Plate. I'm a blabber-mouth at times. Not all times. Some times.

My political leanings I'm kinda quiet about. Too polarizing and really, who cares what I think?

One place cares - I started volunteering (my darling Bella's idea and I hitched my arse to her committed wagon) a few weeks ago and in between driving Barnabee to the Mayo a million times this summer I've been enjoying myself oh so much doing my volunteer gig. I am now officially one of those incredibly annoying people that canvas targeted areas with phone calls. So sorry! Be glad you aren't in my calling district because I'm so persuasive. Before you know it you'll be saying, "Deborah! Of course I will do that! I will march right over there and do anything you ask of me!" I'm just that good! Ask Benjamin the coordinator. He wandered over to my phone station and said, "You're really good on the phone. I mean REALLY good." I have found my calling. After all these years. I told you I was annoying. What better way to prove it? If you saw me right now you'd see the hugest grin ever. I must love being annoying! And it's paying off. Enough said.

With all the Barnabee driving this summer I've neglected my Ruby. My Jeep. So I drove it last Saturday to my GNO outing. The girls I went with wanted me to. It was the singularly perfect day of the entire summer and the day that if you didn't drive your Ruby you were not the sort that deserved to own a Rubicon. You'd get kicked out of the Jeep club.

So I drove.

We put little, tiny, Shelley-Belly in the back. At one point I turned around and saw her little body being thrown helter-skelter, back and forth, up and down, and around against her seatbelt. She weighs less than my dog George and I was fearful she'd be blown out the back like a lost tictac.

I pulled over and she traded with Alli-Baby. Alli didn't look much happier back there! One of them said, "Have YOU ever ridden back here?" Why no I haven't! I'm usually driving!

Lesson learned. The back seat of Ruby is not fun at 75 miles per hour. So sorry my lovely peeps. You really are such whiners!   ;)

With all the above being said, I have a few photos to share. Random, have nothing to do with what I'm yammering on about, photos.

It's Tuesday in August! I am loving the weather at this moment. So awesome.

Here is one photo from our canoe trip. How lovely yes? Of course I fell out of the canoe. Yes I did. At the end. Klutzy much?

Spring Rolls with my Lorenzo. Yes, it's usually all about the food.

A rare ride in Pup's cute little car.

A little conference with one of Pup's hot clients. Why are all of his contractor clients so hot? It's hard to focus. The conference is about a little project at the Chez Emerson.

Shopping trip also with my Lorenzo. I look annoyed. I have become even more annoying than I ever thought possible. I really like the word annoying. Ha!

My favorite dusty antique shop in St. Paul. It was even worse than ever! Love it so much.

St. Croix River out of the window of The Guest House.

Beautiful artwork at the Mayo.

What's on my Blackberry?

Let's take a look at the past week or so. Follow along and laugh enjoy!

Pup and I, along with my sister and brother-in-law, took Barnabee (my dad and step-momma) out for my dad's birthday. Fogo de Chao - where the steak comes hot and often and the boys stop smiling only long enough to say, "Yes! I'll have more!" We seriously love this place like teenage boys love their dirty socks. Apologies for the thought. Some of these things just pop into my head and have to come out somewhere. :)

I went shopping for flowers (finally) and for some reason needed to take a picture of myself. I'm so cute! I'm so kidding! I'm sharing because I rarely take a good photo and when I get one I hoard it like I hoard chocolate.

One of my oldest friends was in town helping her parents downsize to an apartment. They have lived in their lovely house in Highland Park, St. Paul for 56 years. 56 years! Christine and I went to a pub I used to frequent when I lived in St. Paul a few years ago and we had the best time arguing, talking, crying, laughing, and just marveling at the fact that we've known each other since high school. And yes, we act so high school. Love it so much.

Look at all the stuff that Christine's momma, Mrs. M, let me take home. Oh the love and she PROMISES to call me when they have their garage sale because it will be full of more spiffy stuff. Oh I am swooning just thinking about it.

Yes, the cats were hiding because I play my music way too loud during the day. Just look at their disapproving faces! So bad.

These are the regular types of photos I get of myself from my camera. My arms are either not long enough to get my whole body, or I am obsessed with my bubbies and feet, like so many of us. Us being bloggers. Not anyone looking at my bubbies and feet.

We had GNO at my house Saturday night. Our theme was French! We had French food (those are French hamburgers minuscules délicieux. From Julia Child's cookbook! I love her so much since everything is dripping butter. What's not to love? Mmm and numm! I think I had a few gin and tonics before I took these shots. Which explains a lot. (I'm certain French girls drink those yes?)

We dressed French. The best was my peu adorable Shelley-belly. She looked just like Audrey Hepburn. Alli-baby and I both thought pearls and a scarf tied around our necks was French enough. I abandoned my scarf immediately since it was hot as hail that evening.

So much fun. The girl-talk was thick and sassy. The things you learn!

Frozen grapes as ice cubes. I am the best Martha ever. Don't look at me like that. I have my moments.

Shelley-belly made dessert. Mmmm and nummy.

Big-ass breakfast the next morning to clear my head of the gin. Hollandaise!

You and Me in Paradise

I am laughing pretty hard right now. Which is a good thing because someone has to think what I do is hilarious.

I mean, who takes pictures of lamps they did not buy? Me?

I shouldn't even try to analyze. I can't afford to waste the energy. :)

In all honesty, I really really wanted these lamps. I resisted. Who knew I had any form of self-control?

This shot is only here because the cats look alarmed at the crap I bought the other day shopping with Bella.

A little meeting with Alli-baby about the next GNO.

We decided on a French theme. Who will wear the French maid outfit? Hmm?

The mysterious creative process. I love a good thesaurus!

These are boot bracelets The Turnstyle took in. Men like bling too apparently. Or are Conchos only for women?

First and last day on the job at The Firm. Who knew bookkeepers could be so mean? I'll be back, but that's another post for another day. Pup is not happy and I'm biting my tongue. Well, not entirely. :)

Pup and I had a little day trip last Friday. I loved the font for the motel name. I'm sad they have that fugly signage under the name!

Someone wants me to stop goofing around and pay them some attention. Or it was just a warm place to nap?
