Gathering Moss

Transition.

Are you a lover of that word? Transition.

From thesaurus.com
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: change, often major
Synonyms: alteration, changeover, conversion, development, evolution, flux, growth, metamorphosis, metastasis, passage, passing, progress, progression, realignment, shift, transformation, transit, transmutation, turn, turning point, upheaval
Antonyms: beginning, conclusion, end, finish, introduction, sameness, stagnation, start

Do you love what it might mean? Mean for you? Mean in general? Mean for propulsion? Your propulsion?

I'm not alluding to any major change. Not truly. But of course yes, yes a bit. Change.

Because if you're not moving and changing, you're still. And being still could mean you're stuck. I know this isn't good. I know because I'm a veteran of being stuck. Therefore I've become very very good at kicking my own ass. You know, to get it moving.

I make that effort mostly because it's my nature. I make that effort because I do care to improve. I make that effort because change is not comfortable for me and I need to challenge that portion of me always or I'd just be at home with those I love and never venture out. Although, remarkably, I've done many many things in my past and those that know me may have thought, "Oh! That took some balls." Maybe they thought that.

So hallelujah! Thank goodness that something pushes me. It might be me. It might be circumstance. It might be desire. It might be necessity. Yes! Yes, and yes is my favorite word.

Our little Calvin. Sleep peacefully forever now little dude. Smooches and I will miss your annoying ass.

I Am Vicious!

Picture this is you will . . .

Pet supper time at the Chez Emerson.

For some reason feeding the pets every day is a bit of a tug-of-war between me and Pup. He's one of the youngest in his family and I can just hear what he was like as a little kid, "But I did it yesterday!" Make sure you read that with the proper portion of whiney-voice. Ha!

I'm the oldest in my family so I'm used to bossing people around. As I've mentioned millions of times. I also remember that bossing didn't always work on my younger siblings.
Okay . . . so it is pet supper-time; I'm doing the honors. We have George, the lovable 75 pound dog of the huge noggin. We have Calvin, coconut-minded cat that is on Prozac (please don't ask - vet is even in awe of this), and we have the constant houseguest cat DK - or as we call her, Deekers.
I am dawdling while getting the pet dishes ready. George gets very very excited at this time of day. Hey! Wouldn't you get excited if the only thing you got to eat every day is two cups of kibble and a third can of dog-food-smelling canned crap? Yes?

I'm dawdling away at the counter, George is in the kitchen - then the dining room - then the kitchen. Getting very wound up. Whooping and barking and prancing around. We're not exactly certain, but I believe one of his prances swiped Deekers somehow. She wasn't having it. She launched an attack on George  that sent him crying and yipping to the back door. Deekers had wrapped her 6 pound body - let me repeat that, her 6 pound body - around George's nose and head and had him in a death grip.

Then all hell broke loose. George yipping, Pup hollering, Barnabee calling on the phone, cat's tails puffed out, dog trying to get out back door. Even Calvin got huffy-puffy at George - I know he didn't know why.

Serious bedlam. Screaming, laughing, yipping, hissing. Pup grabbed Deekers and yelled at her. I was yelling at Pup. George was yelling to get out. Calvin was yelling just to feel part of it.

Pup was put out with me stating that if I didn't dawdle so much when feeding the pets George wouldn't get so excited. I, of course, couldn't stop laughing. None of them thought I was amusing. And Barnabee on the phone? They thought someone was being murdered.

George wouldn't come back in the house for the remainder of the day.
Pup says I'm vicious! These three look like they got over it.

You and Me in Paradise

I am laughing pretty hard right now. Which is a good thing because someone has to think what I do is hilarious.

I mean, who takes pictures of lamps they did not buy? Me?

I shouldn't even try to analyze. I can't afford to waste the energy. :)

In all honesty, I really really wanted these lamps. I resisted. Who knew I had any form of self-control?

This shot is only here because the cats look alarmed at the crap I bought the other day shopping with Bella.

A little meeting with Alli-baby about the next GNO.

We decided on a French theme. Who will wear the French maid outfit? Hmm?

The mysterious creative process. I love a good thesaurus!

These are boot bracelets The Turnstyle took in. Men like bling too apparently. Or are Conchos only for women?

First and last day on the job at The Firm. Who knew bookkeepers could be so mean? I'll be back, but that's another post for another day. Pup is not happy and I'm biting my tongue. Well, not entirely. :)

Pup and I had a little day trip last Friday. I loved the font for the motel name. I'm sad they have that fugly signage under the name!

Someone wants me to stop goofing around and pay them some attention. Or it was just a warm place to nap?

What's on My Blackberry?

There was so much random and idiotic stuff in the photo folder on my beloved BlackBerry that I could only sigh and say, "WTH"?

But, there were a couple that made me giggle a little bit.

I have a recipe box exactly like this one. My dad bought it for me when I was in the 7th grade for my Home Economics class. I was so excited that he got such a spiffy one. I found this one in an antique store (holy cow) and immediately picked it up for my Bella.
No memory why I took this one of the Beatles print I put up in The Big Room. I like it though. The Beatles, not necessarily this shot of it. Heh!
Yeah, Calvin helping me make the bed. I know, I know, but he makes me laugh!
I took this shot of the inside of my fridge for another blog. Embarrassing what is and what isn't in there!
Pup's momma is on the right and Pup's auntie is on the left. We took them to dinner a week or so ago. His auntie remembers that her momma was a bootlegger! She was amazing to talk to and I want to see her again and get some of her stories on tape. Seriously amazing stories.
What it is! It's coming! It is!
This glass owl weighs about 10 pounds! I could use him for a weapon! I just may.
Yes, this guy came home with me to be the little brother to the other one I bought a while back. I should hang my head, but I hold it high with my owl love!
My BFF bought this. It is the cutest ugly frog I've ever laid eyes on.
Daisy!
What's been keeping y'all out of trouble this week?

Sunday at the Chez Emerson

It was a good week.
I discovered I loved My Week with Marilyn and hated Contraband.

I discovered nothing is quite as delicious as a Maker's Mark Old Fashioned.
I added a few things to my list.

I crossed a few things off my list.
I bought a few things.
I donated a few things.

I hugged.

I cried.

I laughed.

I organized.

I procrastinated.

All in all, just another week.

Who Who?

I'm on a new kick. The whole country may just be on this kick way before me if the amount of owl stuff I'm seeing around is a clue. Apparently I cannot even buy a clue. Or a vowel? heh

Suddenly these little guys are topmost in my mind. Lovin' on them.
The big eyes. The little round body. In love.
So I begin decorating the tree. I love getting out the ornaments.
I love the Charlie Brown tree.
I love the stockings.
Calvin came to bug help me.
While decorating I was enjoying an old Rock Hudson, Sandra Dee, Gina Lollobrigida movie. I didn't want it to end. Love all that 60s stuff.
The Big Room was warm and cozy.
I say yes!

The Art of Being Lazy

Human nature is above all things lazy.
~Harriet Beecher Stowe

I'm a very lazy, stay-at-home kind of girl.
~Jerry Hall

Italians know about human nature - they understand human nature perhaps better than anyone else does. They know that people are weak and greedy and lazy and dishonest and they just try to make the best of it; to work around it.
~Donna Leon

Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
~Mark Twain

You can't teach people to be lazy—either they have it, or they don't.
~Dagwood Bumstead
I get up in the morning, make some coffee, sit at my computer, and before I know it several hours have gone by.

Be it reading my blog list, working on some writings, or designing the new PupBiz logo, the time flies. Good thing I'm mostly an insomniac. I have extra time to burn.

Hard to Resist

These two faces.

It's crazy and wonderful that these two get closer and closer. It used to be that George would have nothing to do with the cat. But Calvin is definitely growing on him.

He grew on us so it was bound to happen.

I have no excuse for this post. Pup says I have a classic empty-nest thing going on. I have entirely replaced being a mom for being a pet-mom.

I'm alarmed! I laugh! I'm sooooo very annoying.

Promises Promises!

I keep promising that I'll:
  1. clean my office. Umm . . . yeah.
  2. stop killing all of my plants. What's happening???
  3. take photos of the big room to post. Aaah . . . yeah.
  4. bring in that pile of clothing thrown over a dining room chair into work to consign. I think I'm afraid of being judged! Ha and wussy!
  5. work out. The workout room in the dungeon really mocks me. Daily.
  6. eat better. Okay - that one I really am working on.
  7. stop repeating myself constantly; if not daily. I'm not certain how to fix this one. I don't know I'm doing it!
  8. enjoy winter this year. No complaining.
  9. stop letting time fly by without my noticing it! It's really starting to scare me.
Meanwhile:
  1. I am enjoying my new job and all the awesome muchachas lindas that I work with. They all call each other dorks so I fit RIGHT IN! Amazing how that works out sometimes right?
  2. We had a family meeting (Pup's fam) at our place and I was petted and coddled and praised for all the awesomeness that is our house. I blushed like a teenage bride.
  3. I am preparing notes and a list of all the managery things I'll be able to do for Pup once he and I buy into the new biz (in the spring - yahoo! He's expanding his business in a HUGE way and needs to hire someone and who better than yo for that? Keep the money honey. Keep it in the family as Pup says. Why not? I super duper enjoyed working for him last winter before I took the job at The Tumbler. It was a bit surprising to both of us how well that went. Sometimes hubs and wifes shouldn't. It did help that I had my own office.
  4. summer is ever so slowly turning into fall and that, this year anyway, is making me so happy because I do love the fall even though it means winter is on its way.
Aaaaaah breakfast out. What could be better than that?

SHOPPING! I texted this photo to Bella to show her I was expanding from my normal palate of gray!  Exciting yes? hehehe

As always, I am super duper jealous of this cat's sleeping ability.

This is why I fit right in with the other dorks. I am one. Yes, those are Crocs. Don't hate me.

My last name starts with a W. Is the Universe trying to tell me something?
