Hot Men Friday

The new year is nearly here.

I'm excited for the new year. I feel very sanguine about the coming year. That all by itself is a pleasing feeling (More than a Feeling - sigh - I still love Boston). I haven't had that particular pleasure for a bit of time. So,

"Hello delight - where the fuck have you been? I've been very sad and lackluster without you."

As most of us bloggers/writers know, even though we share a slice of ourselves to anyone who stumbles onto our blog, there is, like an iceberg, much more below our surface.

We don't really know what motivates some bloggers to be endlessly entertaining, we don't know the creative force behind some of the brilliant fashion and decorating blogs out there, we don't entirely know the process behind those thoughtful and provoking blogs we love, and we don't know what could motivate a blogging-asshole. We just don't know. We think we do. But we don't.

For instance, the face I show here in my blog is a mostly happy face. I am mostly a happy girl. With that is the mostly dark girl as well. I kinda like the dark girl, but I never want to foster her because, truth be told, she can scare the shit out of me from time to time.

So, on this forum, for me, I let the happy girl out. But never confuse upbeat with weak.

We bloggers are a convex and rectilinear sort and to ever assume you can know what to expect - well, that could get your arse in a vice. That's what keeps me coming back. Isn't it fun not really knowing?

Happy New Year my friends. I am embracing the great and gristle. It keeps it interesting!

I have a thing for big, dark, men. I kinda love a bit of fluff and especially love a goofy grin and broody face. That juxtaposition sends a Bullet to, if not my heart, then someplace I can't talk about here. Yes, I said it. I'm not ashamed. Don't lie peeps, you all do it too

I am a great big Sex and the City fan. I own the deluxe boxed set and love to pull out episodes from time to time. Some of my favorite scenes are with Mr. Big. I loved it when his tanned, smooth, brown, and a tiny bit hairy, chest would be in Carrie's bed.

I'm enjoying The Good Wife for his good guy persona and the underlying bad bad boy that he's trying like hell to squash.

LOVE HIM!

Requisite Resolution Ramblings

Seriously? It's the end of the year? WTH happened. Wasn't it just August?

We are having a great winter season here so far. Lots and lots of snow. Very tricky to drive in and so lovely to look at. Even here in the city where I live it's lovely. The snow hides all the ick from everywhere.

I could list the crap I want to accomplish, I could list the crap I didn't accomplish. It's crap either way.

Who said this, "Don't say, do"? That's how I'm feeling. I'm not going to blah blah blah. Well, that's not true. I'll do plenty of that. Just not about resolutions.

But I have a few thoughts in my mind for change. I always do have those thoughts. Some work, some don't, but when you stop having those thoughts, that's when you're done. I don't want to ever be done! No matter how much I kick and scream, bitch and moan, gripe and grouse, complain and exclaim.

I did learn tons of crap this year.

1. I learned that my brain can still learn. Who knew?
2. I learned that sometimes you get a second chance.
3. I learned that if you don't use it, you really do lose it.
4. I learned that I never want to stop coloring my hair.
5. I learned that planning an addition is crazy-making fun.
6. I learned that I can be a force to be reckoned with.

What's to come.

1. Expand job search.
2. Rethink career goals.
3. Relax about the den. It will be fine. Big deal and quit second-guessing.
4. Eat better. (said every damn year - ha!)
5. Exercise more. (ditto)
6. Consider electro-shock therapy.

Alright! I feel cleansed!

What's going on in your resolution solutions?

Why Did You Buy Me That?

Who hasn't gotten a ridiculous gift over the years?

I had a sister-in-law in my past life that was the QUEEN of weird gifts. Like the see-through bathrobe in neon green she made my wasband; never did figure out what the hell that fabric was.

Or the broken plastic clock shaped like a piano? That was spiff.

I am only picking on her because - well - because she's in Missouri and she's an ex sister-in-law.

Check this out! Hilarious!

Thank you deb-oh-rah for this. I laughed myself tearless.

It's interesting to me . . .

that if idiots say something often enough, others begin to believe it. Why why why?

that - yes - Christmas is coming. Same time, same place. Get a clue Deborah.

Pup is 12 and I love that.

that my baby-girls give me chest-bursting pride and more fun than I can shake it more than once at.

that I love Minnesota. Cuz you know I'll be bitchin' along in say February and March.

some women should NOT wear turtlenecks.

all women should wear heels.

men and woman should not wear baseball hats ALL THE DAMN TIME. Sometimes is fine.

I get the most comfortable with my body right when it starts to fall apart.

how some people simply do not know the definition of insanity (doing the same thing over and over expecting different results - I could be in here somewhere).

that nearly nothing is as enjoyable as that first sip of my morning coffee - sigh.

that I am having more fun imagining and designing than I have a right to.

that I can still rock an interview. I just may be better than I think I am.

What are you thinking about?

Helter Skelter

My blog stats are nothing to shake a computer at, but it is fun to check them out from time to time.

Most fascinating certainly being the search phrases used chaotically to find me.

Here are a few from the past week or so:

piss my ass off
Is this anything like laugh your ass off? With a twisty-twist? Or kinky-twist? Do I really want to know?

moms on carpeted floors
Ditto with this one. Just what are these moms doing? What can't they do that same thing on hardwood floors? After all, you say potato, I say vodka.

hairy chests
I think I know why this one worked.

simon baker hair
Ditto for this one.

бенисио дель торо
Phishing for limp wieners in need of medication perhaps?

grain free chewy chocolate chip cookie
This one was spot-on specific. Makes me go hmm . . .

female pissingin snow
This one creeps me out as much as it made me laugh.

What's in your computer?

Hot Men Friday

Denis Leary

I'm usually not attracted to 'gingeys'. I will make an EXCEPTION for this hunky guy.

Who doesn't love a smartassy, funny, naughty, kind, hot man with great hair? Even if it is red?

And he's tall and lanky. And all smartassy. LOVE HIM!

hello hot arms - will you hold me?

Grain-free Chocolate Chip Cookies

I cannot for the life of me remember where I found this recipe.

It was either here -->Joyful Abode or here -->Life as a Plate or here -->Comfy Belly. All of these sites are great for grok-like (Paleo) cookin'. I'm all over the Grok - he's a hot beast.

we had eaten quite a few when I finally took a shot - hot cookies! mmmm!
This makes a half batch which makes about 26-30 cookies depending on your scoopage. Bake at 350 degrees for 9 minutes. If you overbake they get ishy and too crispy.

1 stick of butter, softened
1/4 cup measurable sugar-sub - your choice
3/4 cup DiabetiSweet brown sugar sub - the one I used had sugar alcohols, I'm looking around for something that would be less . . . um . . . reactive. Ha!
1 egg (I might add an additional egg next time)
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup vanilla whey protein powder
3/4 cup almond flour (you can make your own with your food processor)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (I used Ghirardelli) I'm going to cut this measurement down to 3/4 cups. It was way chip-heavy. You may like cookies that way!

Cream the butter, sugar subs, egg, and vanilla. In a separate bowl mix the rest of the ingredients except for the chocolate chips. Add the dry to the creamed mixture and mix well (next time I am using my food processor - hand mixing made the mixture too stiff - this dough needs to be treated gently). Add chips and mix.

Scoop golfball-sized portions onto an ungreased baking sheet. Leave about 2 inches apart to make room for spreading.

Bake 9 minutes - if you overbake they get too crunchy. 9 minutes seems to leave them nice and chewy/crunchy.

When baked, remove them immediately from the baking sheet and let them cool on a flat surface.

Seriously nummy and crunchy and chewy.
